Work Sharp is the sharpening brand from Darex, a family owned manufacturer now based in Ashland, Oregon that has built precision grinding equipment since 1973. Work Sharp knife sharpeners span flexible belt systems, angle adjustable guided sharpeners, and compact field tools, with each line built around a specific use and skill level. We carry the lineup from the Ken Onion Edition belt sharpeners through Precision Adjust, the Pivot and Guided Field sharpeners, kitchen electrics, and the Drill Doctor bit sharpeners.
The Ken Onion Edition Mk.2 is Work Sharp's flagship powered sharpener, developed with custom knifemaker Ken Onion. It runs flexible abrasive belts with electronic speed control and an adjustable sharpening guide from 15 to 30 degrees, and it ships with a five belt kit from P120 extra coarse to 6000 extra fine. The Ken Onion Elite Mk.2 adds the Blade Grinding Attachment in the box, and the Blade Grinding Attachment is also sold on its own, with larger 1" x 18" belts, adjustable angles from 10 to 35 degrees, and three convex edge profile settings. The Knife & Tool Sharpener Mk.2 brings the same flexible belt approach to a simpler guide, with 25 and 20 degree settings for outdoor and kitchen knives, and the Combo Knife Sharpener pairs a belt with angle guided ceramic honing. Because belts are consumables, keep a rotation on hand from our replacement sharpening belts, including the Ken Onion assorted belt kit and Blade Grinding Attachment belts.
The Precision Adjust series is the manual, guided approach for users who want full control. The Precision Adjust clamps the blade and sets the angle from 15 to 30 degrees in one degree steps, with 320 and 600 grit diamond plates and a fine ceramic on one Tri-Brasive handle. The Precision Adjust Elite expands to seven abrasives, five diamond grits plus ceramic and a leather strop, and the Precision Adjust Upgrade Kit brings an original base up to that level. The Professional Precision Adjust moves to a metal frame with a digital angle indicator and 1" x 6" abrasives from 220 to 800 grit diamond, and the Professional Precision Adjust Elite tops the manual lineup with ten abrasives and a carry case. Precision Adjust sits alongside the other clamping platforms in our guided knife sharpening systems.
Work Sharp field sharpeners pack edge maintenance into tools that ride in a pack or truck console. The Guided Field Sharpener combines diamond plates, ceramic rods, a leather strop, and angle guides, and the Guided Field Sharpener Elite adds 400 and 800 grit diamond plates and a zippered case. The Pivot Pro uses convex carbides, ceramic rods, a diamond plate, and dedicated garden tool and scissor modules, joined by the Pivot Plus and Pivot. The Pocket Knife Sharpener keeps guided sharpening small enough for a pocket, and the benchtop Angle Set, designed with Ken Onion, indexes tri sided rods at 15 to 25 degrees. Compare them with the rest of our pocket knife sharpeners.
For the kitchen, the Electric Kitchen Knife Sharpener runs ceramic sharpening discs, and the Professional Electric Kitchen Knife Sharpener uses Culinary belts, kept fresh with the Master Belt Kit and Standard Replacement Kit. The Kitchen Pull Through Sharpener and Kitchen Ceramic Honing Rod cover quick touch ups. For manual stone work, the Benchstone pairs 320 and 600 diamond with ceramic, the Whetstone runs 1000 and 6000 grit aluminum oxide, and both take 15 and 17 or 20 and 25 degree angle guides. The Rolling Knife Sharpener uses a magnetic angle block at 15, 17, 20, and 25 degrees. In the shop, the Drill Doctor 350X, 500X, and 750X sharpen drill bits.
