The Work Sharp Combo Knife Sharpener puts powered belt sharpening and guided ceramic honing in one compact benchtop unit. It handles pocket knives, outdoor knives, kitchen knives, and serrations without a learning curve. Work Sharp pairs a flexible abrasive belt for fast sharpening with a tapered ceramic rod for honing, and both are locked to the same 25 degree angle, making it the simplest entry point in our electric knife sharpeners.
Belt: The 1/2" x 10" flexible belt flexes slightly as it runs, rolling the bevel into a convex edge rather than a flat V. Knifemakers favor convex edges because the extra steel behind the apex supports the edge in hard use. The included P120 belts are 3M abrasives built for metal grinding, quick enough to bring back a dull working blade in a few passes.
Angle Guides: Fixed 25 degree guides set the angle for both the belt and the ceramic rod. That is a durable, all around angle for hunting knives, EDC folders, and kitchen workhorses, and it takes angle control off the table for anyone new to sharpening.
Ceramic Rod: The fine grit tapered ceramic rod hones the edge after the belt and handles touch-ups between sharpening sessions. Its taper fits into most serration sizes, so bread knives and serrated EDC blades get the same treatment as plain edges.
Motor: A single speed 120V motor with a simple on and off switch, rated for light duty home use.
Who It's For: Anyone who wants fast, consistent edges on a household's worth of knives without learning a stone. For more angle range and grit choice, step up to the Ken Onion Edition Mk.2. For the basics of edge maintenance, our knife sharpening guide covers when to sharpen and when to hone.
