Replacement sharpening belts are the consumable that keeps every belt sharpener cutting. We stock belts for Work Sharp sharpening systems across the full grit range, from P80 reprofile belts through 12000 grit finishing belts, along with cloth stropping belts for the final pass that turns a sharpened edge into a refined one. If you are still building your belt progression, our knife sharpening guide explains how grit steps and burr removal fit together.
Abrasive belts wear with use, and running a worn belt is one of the most common causes of poor results on an electric knife sharpener. A fresh belt cuts faster, runs cooler, and leaves a cleaner edge than one loaded with swarf and glazed from repeated use. Coarse belts from P80 through P220 handle reprofiling and damage repair, the jobs where you remove real material to reset the edge geometry. Medium belts such as X22, rated around P700 to P1000, establish clean bevels and do most routine sharpening. Fine belts like X4 at roughly P3000 refine the apex, and ultra fine 6000 and 12000 grit belts polish it. Cloth stropping belts loaded with sharpening compound complete the progression, clearing the burr on a powered platform the same way a leather strop does by hand.
The Ken Onion Edition sharpener, including the Mk.2, runs 3/4" x 12" belts. Single grit packs cover the P120 extra coarse Norton belt for heavy reprofiling, X65 coarse, X22 medium, and X4 fine. The Assorted Belt Kit for the Ken Onion Edition puts one each of P120, X65, X22, X4, and 6000 in a single pack, so the full progression is ready when an edge needs it. These belts fit the Ken Onion Edition only and will not run on other Work Sharp tools.
The Blade Grinding Attachment takes a longer 1" x 18" belt that spreads heat and wear over more abrasive. The Replacement Belt Kit runs P120 Norton ceramic through a 12000 grit micro mesh belt, and the 6 Pack spans X200 ultra coarse to X5 fine. Three packs fill in single grits: X22 medium, X16 1200 grit, 3600 grit, 6000 grit, and 12000 grit. The Stropping Belt Kit pairs two Norton cloth belts with green chromium oxide and red ferric oxide compounds, one belt per compound to prevent cross contamination.
The standard Knife and Tool Sharpener runs its own belt set in three grits. P80 coarse and P220 medium ceramic oxide belts handle shaping and sharpening, and 6000 grit silicon carbide belts hone the finished edge. Each comes in a six pack, and the Work Sharp Belt Kit mixes two of each grit, which lowers the cost per belt for anyone running a Work Sharp as their primary sharpener.
