Leather strops and hones are where a sharp edge becomes a refined edge. Leather Strops for Knives
The leather matters as much as the technique. Firm vegetable tanned leather resists dipping under edge pressure, so the apex stays consistent stroke after stroke. The grain side (smooth) is the finishing surface for clean final passes, and the flesh side (rough) holds stropping compound for more aggressive refinement. Our DLT XL Double Sided Paddle Strop gives you two 12" x 2" leather surfaces on a Northern grown white ash block, and the DLT Standard Double Sided Paddle Strop runs two 8" x 2" surfaces. The Ambush Pro Series Double Sided Paddle Strop adds a premium hardwood build, and the two sided Fine Leather Hone handles both convex and V bevel edges.
Paddle Strops, Bench Strops, and Field Hones
Paddle strops mount leather to a rigid base for a flat, stable platform, and double sided models let you run a compound loaded side and a bare side on one tool. For longer blades, the DLT Leather Bench Strop offers a 12" x 3" surface and comes pre drilled to mount to your bench. Field hones strip the format down for the pack. The DLT Economy Double Sided Field Strop measures 8" x 2", and the Dull Boy Blades Whole Enchilada pairs a 600 grit diamond stone with a leather strop in a palm sized tool. Stropping Compound and Strop Kits
A strop is only as good as the abrasive you load on it. Pair any strop with CBN emulsions for high carbide steels like S90V, M390, and MagnaCut, or with traditional compound bars for a proven finishing progression. Kits take the guesswork out. Diamond Strops and Sharpening Hones
For a finishing step that never needs loading, Nano Hone diamond resin strops cut on their own. The Nano Strop comes in 100, 25, and 10 micron grits, the Diamond Resin Plates and Stone Stage build out a bench setup, and the Nano Hone Truer carries 50 and 3 micron sides for daily edge maintenance.
