The Medford USMC Raider is a breakdown fighting knife from Medford Knife & Tool, made in Phoenix, Arizona. It is a slightly smaller version of Medford's TBF, short for Too Big to Fail, keeping every feature of the larger fighter in a size that is easier to carry.
The Raider uses Medford's combo grind, flat ground at the tip for strength and hollow ground along the main edge for a keen, long lasting edge, with a double row of serrations. The hilt is hardened D2 and doubles as a built in crowbar. Its through tang construction breaks down completely with a single Allen wrench for thorough cleaning, so this tactical knife stays easy to maintain after hard use.
The Raider runs a 6.5 inch S35VN blade on 0.25 inch stock, 11.63 inches overall, and weighs 18.4 ounces with G-10 scales and a Kydex sheath. Choose tumbled S35VN in black or OD green, or black PVD with coyote G-10. S35VN balances edge retention and corrosion resistance, compared in our knife steel guide. The rest of Medford's Marine lineup includes the USMC Fighter, USMC EOD, and USMC Trench Knife, all fixed blades built for hard use.
