The Medford M-48 is a hybrid aluminum and titanium flipper from Medford Knife & Tool, made in Phoenix, Arizona. It is named in homage to the M48 Patton main battle tank and its four man crew, and it pairs a nearly 9 inch open length with a 3.5 ounce weight that carries easily every day.
The M-48 runs on bearings, with an anodized aluminum front scale and a titanium frame lock side, so it saves weight without giving up a strong lockup. Medford hand grinds the blade with its Magnus edged tip and hides a few Easter eggs on the blade and clip for owners to find. It is one of the lightest full size Medford folding knives, a natural fit for everyday carry.
Every M-48 runs a 3.9 inch S35VN blade on 0.125 inch stock, 4.6 inches closed and 8.6 inches open. Choose a tumbled blade with aluminum in black, blue, green, red, or yellow, or a PVD blade with PVD titanium and hardware in black, red, or yellow. Our knife steel guide covers S35VN. For a Medford with aluminum and titanium in a different shape, look at the Praetorian Swift FL, or for a slim all titanium flipper, the Antik.
